Sleep in... and win! | Ian Dunican | TEDxPerth

How well do you sleep?

In an age of electrical lighting, shift work, and 24-hour news cycles, many of us have sacrificed and compromised our sleep.

Yet, to perform at our best, Ian Dunican believes we must approach sleep as a serious matter. In this talk, Ian concentrates our minds on the need for sleep and shares some tips on how to sleep better - and therefore perform better.

Ian Dunican is a sleep researcher who helps business, industry and elite sports teams to achieve more through fatigue management and improved sleep. He is also an ultra-runner and has completed the Leadville 100 mile, a continuous off-road foot race in the Colorado Rockies where he ran for 27 hrs 42mins. He has completed numerous mountain ultra-runs in Australia and is a Brazilian jiu jitsu practitioner. Ian combines scientific research and operational leadership to work with industry and elite sports to manage fatigue and maximise productivity and performance. He has worked on projects all over the world including Mozambique, South Africa, Canada, USA, Australia and Mongolia. He also works with elite athletes in the Australian Institute of Sport, Western Force, Greater Western Sydney Giants and Perth Lynx.

Our vision is to gather Perth’s finest thinkers and doers, and to provide a forum to share their ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’ with an audience that is highly motivated, influential and engaged. TEDxPerth aims to be a beacon for all that is remarkable, challenging and thought-provoking in Perth, and to both celebrate and raise the intellectual ambition and culture of WA.

TEDxPerth is an indedepently organised event, operated under licence from TED.
