About this talk

A driver’s licence can unlock the door to many opportunities: independence, employment, social connection.

But the WA licencing process is long, complex and expensive. For some young people, getting their driver’s licence is simply out of reach.

Susie Delaporte shares the remarkable results of a driver education program that improves driving accessibility for young people in regional WA.

Susie reminds us that we can all make a difference in the life of a young person. For them, it might just change everything.

About the speaker

Susie Delaporte is a strong advocate for young people who face systemic barriers.

Entering the workforce with Honours in Psychology, Susie has over fifteen years’ experience working in community services, including disability support, homelessness, domestic violence and foster care.

Susie quickly learned that recognising barriers is only half the battle. She has implemented practical solutions to address complex, underlying issues of accessibility for young people living in regional Western Australia.
